RE: WHAT A WASTE OF A WEEKEND!!!!

Hi all-Jim Main returning from this weekend's Main Mission 2000
show...as a dealer, I can tell you CLOSE UP that it was a bomb for
many of us. The only good things there were meeting some fellow UFO
fans, watching some Anderson shows I've never seen before, finding a
copy of the UFO cd for 20 bucks, talking with Phil, and the hotel
room and the inexpensive deli we found across the street. The
involvement by Fanderson was also excellent. But as a dealer there I
was lucky that I almost broke even on my expenses, because many others
did not do as well as I did...some didn't even make a penny. Many
guests cancelled out as well.

For me though, I liked to meet with the other fans...found a shop
nearby that had the wave skydiver kit for $100.00 (ZING! I got it
now!!!)and those episodes that I guess were brought by Fanderson
(Nick???)as well as that Fanderson memebership pack that had the
UFO:1999 brochure in it.

In the words of my partners..."NEVER AGAIN!"

Sorry to hear that some dealers didn't make any money at
MainMission:2000. Perhaps they should try selling their items on
eBay, where the real money seems to be these days!

Hopefully the comments from other folks who attended this con will be
more positive -- I talked with Phil Merkel last night, and it sounded
like he was enjoying the con a lot!

I'm not sure which guests showed & which didn't, although I
understand that Zenia Merton, Johnny Byrne, and Catherine Schell were
there, but David Tomblin was not.

Probably from Jom's POV yeah BUT from a fans POV it was Space 1999 heaven.
I had a terrific time meeting everyone, getting autographs and photos,
worked like crazy (Crazy was the way to describe it!) on the auction and
taped some really cool panels about Space 1999 with Johnny Byrne and
Christopher Penfold listening and commenting on the analysis of the show.
(Yes its on Video!!!) : -)

Its to early for me to write a complete con report, I just woke up, my son
has an ear infection and i have to watch my daughter while they go to the
Dr's (Happens every 3 day weekend!)

So early report: Fan POV A++++++
Dealer POV probably C or D,

I only spent around $60 in the dealers room Mainly because i didn't have
time to shop that much, I figured with all the people around that was the
once in a lifetime opportunity for me and i wasn't going to miss it.

The greatest thrill for me was Thursday night running into Johnny Byrne
(Aithor of space 1999 episodes) shaking his hand and him saying, "Oh, You're
Phil Merkel, I know you from the email list!"

: -)

Sadly UFO content was lacking, the UFO items did sell quickly on the auction
and I'm kicking myself for not bringing my extra copy of Earthfall to sell
at the auction. Everyone was looking for that!

More news later, I haven't had my coffee yet!
