Greetings -
In addition to penning my thoughts on this episode, I have photographed and uploaded a file of my own cat with 10 lives, Nefertiti. You can tell she is an alien by her eyes: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SHADO/files/TheLynx%27s%20Strange%20Alien%20Planet/catwith10lives.jpg The episode opens with an unusual pan shot of the Moonbase command sphere that gives a real impression of roundness. Finally, we get to see some additional Moonbase defenses. It seemed abit inadequate that this first line of defense consisted of a mere three interceptors. The Greenies finally got smart and mounted a major attack on Moonbase versus taking a pot shot at the rec sphere. I would prefer to pass on SHADO combat training, thank you. Which SHADO car is cooler, brown or purple? Although I am happy that Lois Maxwell was able to get work at the time, I'll take Miss Ealand in the role anyday. However, this is an interesting development considering Ed Bishop's part in Diamonds Are Forever. Colonel Lake was a disagreeable character to me. She is definitely not a suitable replacement for Freeman. And her wardrobe pales in comparison. How did they train that cat to slink around like that. I can't get my cats to do much of anything, but they're still cool. Interesting how they spell the word "computer" as "computor". Didn't they have Pentiums? By far, the most shocking revelation in the series to this point was Jackson's theory that the aliens are recycled humans. Where are those damned cats anyway... End Transmission. "Imagine a dying planet in some distant corner of the universe. Its natural resources exhausted. Its inhabitants sterile. Doomed to extinction. A situation we may one day find ourselves in, gentlemen. So they discover earth. Abundant, fertile. Able to satisfy their needs. They look upon us not with animosity, but callousness. As we look upon our animals that we depend on for food. Yes, it appears they are driven by circumstance across a billion miles of space, driven on by the greatest force in the universe - survival."

Hi Lynx - I LOVED your uploaded photo of Nefertiti - she's gorgeous! I have
3 female Siamese cats - Sammit, Cleo-catra and Lady Kiya (named for King Tut's mama). My lone male is black George with big green eyes! Cleo is actually the cat I used for two of my stories on the shadolibrary: The Cat That Saved Straker's Life, and Private Agendas. Also LOL'ed over your term "The Greenies" for the aliens - mind if I use that term in my next UFO fan fic story? I can give you credit for it..... Pam |

The cat was scared, so it slinked. > By far, the most shocking revelation in the series to this point was > Jackson's theory that the aliens are recycled humans. Where are those damned > cats anyway... Huh? I like the character of Regan (and that actor is cool), but I HATE this episode because of the way the cameraman is holding that cat out in front of his camera at the end - and sqeazing it to make it cry. <grrrrrrrrrrr> That's why this ep is very LAST on my list of eps. -- Y -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Yuchtar zantai-Klaan | [hidden email] I am not a number! I think many males would disagree on that, citing Ginny's increasingly unbuttoned blouse in Timelash. > Interesting how they spell the word "computer" as "computor". Didn't they > have Pentiums? Nigel Kneale and his team made the same mistake in many of the original Quatermass scripts and TV boradcasts. > By far, the most shocking revelation in the series to this point was > Jackson's theory that the aliens are recycled humans. Where are those damned > cats anyway... This was arguably Vladek's finest hour. His delivery was worthy of Peter Lorre in full flow. Actually, Jackson's theory went further than that, suggesting that the aliens might even be non-corproeal. Dave. |
