I can't believe you're talking about earthlings that way, Karl.
I have only one message for you:
Earth -- Love it or Leave it!

Dear Dennispersica:
I do love Earth! What I'm saying is that our History is full of warfare; Ididn't invent History, is right there, just pick up a history book. So, if our History has an extensive militarist and bellicose background, that isof help for the SHADO designers, commanders, officers and soldiers to fight back the UFO menace. That's all.  
On the other hand, for the way aliens behave themselves and conduct their operations we can deduce they are not very good strategists. As a matter offact, in almost all the episodes they send only ONE UFO to accomplish a mission. Only one! What about the premise of back-up support, diversion tactics, multiple targets, etc. In the episode "Survival" two or three sniper aliens could have destroyed Moonbase. Sending one the only thing they got was their UFO destroyed, the mission's failure and their astronaut killed. Another example: "The square triangle", a dog defeats an alien's operation: a dog! That doesn't speaks well for alien's commanders.
That's what I was trying to point out yesterday: SHADO, with inferior technology and resources, is able to beat technological superior and very motivated aliens.
