I thought it was a given that the military uses secret technology
that's about 30 years ahead of what the public agencies (NASA, etc.)
have available to them. For example, the folks who live by airforce
bases in Nevada, etc. often see all sorts of wierd things flying
around that aren't easily explained by current technology.>>>>
*snerk* given the area and the legends about the area, there are occasionally debates about who's flying what over there. (come to think of it, NM airspace is not inviolate of ufo stuff. after all, if it's airborne and i dunno what it is, then it's a ufo, non?)
are they still actually shooting people who stray into Area 51, which i believe the usaf is still denying exists, inspite of the photographs. and Hangar 15? is, of course, a complete myth. *chuckle* only if you live out here, there are a lot of things one is inclined to feel has more reality than the official spiel gives them. (do not get me started on the strangeness that is out around Trinity site <g>)
altho', i believe given the rate tech is being accepted at a practically exponential rate by the rank and file of humanity these days, the stretch between military and civvie is more on the order of 10 years difference, and closing. -- still, back in 1970 when i first saw this show, somehow having both sets of space vehicle functioning seemed very realistic. kinda like all those redundant back-up systems plus one the space program is supposed to have. and for launching some things, the Saturn's can still be the best way to deliver payload -- not people necessarily, but satelites and things like that there. (forgive my spelling, i think i missed an l there.)
