Hi all,
I have read with the various comments being made in various mailings regarding
releasing all of Barry Gray's music in one format or another, and that the
complete studio reels should be made available as well. Also, various comments
regarding the Gray tapes and the CD Fanderson releases.
Of the Fanderson CD's Nick Williams has posted a very accurate reply, and I have
nothing to add to this. As the producer of the Supercar / XL5 CD, and as someone
who has been through ALL the Barry Gray tapes over a five year plus period, I have
to tell you that Barry was very practical with his music. If an existing piece
would fit a scene he would use it, literally cutting and pasting segments of music
together to create the whole. As such there is an incredible amount of repetition.
Without the pictures these edits are very obvious and do not make for good
listening. The Supercar / XL5 CD comprises of the best of the best that was
available, and as with the Fanderson Space: 1999 titles, could not be made better.
However, I have learnt over the years that you can't please everyone, so no doubt
someone will take issue with the above.
