Ahh, okay. If it were floor to ceiling mirrored glass on the outside that could work. My problem was always that we should see a window sill and an outer wall only a few moments after the office started to to descend. I know that searching out these sort of details in a TV series is folly, but this detail always bugged me given the GA reputation for verisimilitude. Again, there's no answer to this one... but it is funny to have a whole office descend undergound, and take up a bunch of space down there and not be used at all. Doesn't seem handy at all, but a hidden elevator isn't nearly as cool I guess. :) Thanks Griff! - Bohus Blahut (BOH-hoosh BLAH-hoot) modern filmmaker |
I know we're in the land of dreams and wild speculation, but it's fun
wondering about this stuff. Maybe Straker's office was used originally when they were building SHADO HQ as a freight elevator to get all the huge amounts of equipment down there. After the complex was complete, they decided to camouflage it as an office? Well, it's one answer to the question of why go to the expense of having the whole office move. Maybe they didn't, it was just a by-product. Just an idea :) Later, Griff -----Original Message----- From: Bohus Blahut [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 7:49 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [SHADO] Digest Number 958 > Message: 9 > Date: Mon, 13 Jan 2003 21:11:56 -0000 > From: "Griff" <[hidden email]> > Subject: RE: Digest Number 956 > > Hi All, > > This question of Straker's office being seen descending below ground has > been raised many times before. This could look quite natural from the inside - outer walls are usually quite thick and there is usually a cavity between the inner wall and the outer, I believe. James |

What an incredibly sensible idea. I always think that the best sci-fi is a combination of both plausity and ingenuity + you hit the nail right on the head! "We're not worthy .." Good answer and good imagination! I would have not thought of that. I like
it.
