Likely Utronics is faster than light. The UFO and Star Trek crossover story
"Harvest of the Planters" by Deborah A. Rorabaugh (
http://www.shadolibrary.org/library/stacks/works/harvesta.htm and
http://www.shadolibrary.org/library/stacks/works/harvestb.htm ) says that
Utronics is Star Trek type subspace radio used as an FTL radar. (FTL = Faster
Than Light.)
