EEEEK! I haven't been anywhere near a radio or TV for the last 48 hrs - I
didn't know about the earthquake in your neck of the woods - glad to hear you're all in one piece and no damage! Any idea what it rated on the Richter Scale? California. It lies in the Cascadia subduction zone, where the Juan de Fuca plate is slowly sliding beneath the North American Plate. The San Andreas, by comparison, is a strike-slip fault, where the adjacent plates move at right angles to one another. (IOW Los Angeles is slowly headed for Alaska) In addition to earthquakes, subduction zones produce explosive volcanoes (i.e. Mt. St. Helens). Japan is another subduction zone plagued by earthquakes. > Gee, I sure hope Microsoft is all right... > > :-) Hee hee. |
