I think everyone has said it already, but this really is tragic. I'd also sort of had it at the back of my mind that Ed was an elderly gentleman, but it is still a shock, and then to hear about Mike Billington as well is just unbelievable.
I had the good fortune to meet Ed Bishop on a number of occasions, most noteably at the Tenth Planet store in London where he was exceptionally nice to my friend Joanne and I, and spent a good deal of time talking to us when really, he didn't have to. But at every signing or play where I met him he was always such a gentlman.
I had only met Mike Billington once, at Memorabilia last year in Glasgow at the SECC, and was overwhelmed by how nice he was. Even my father, who is not a science fiction or a UFO fan, but who had come with me that day, went home telling everyone how nice the 'guy from that series my daughter likes' was. He spoke to us for a long time at the signing and seemed so genuinely interested in the fans and the activities still going on with the series.
I heard about this last night, but it didn't really hit me till today. All I can say is, as others have said, my heart goes out to their families and also to the fans out there who these men affected.
