Funny. However here's something that is actually quite true (and so
ridiculous you won't believe it). There used to be a ventriloquist during the 30's
and 40's who actually had a radio act. That's right folks he actually had a
vent act on the radio. (I can't remember the guy's name though. But
apparently his act on the radio was very popular!! Probably due to the lack of
anything interesting on the radio at that time :-))

I think you may be refering to Edgar Bergan with
Charlie McCarthy. They were a big act during that
time.

It would be ridiculous if the recording sessions for the act were
held in a studio, but if it was done before a live audience, say in a
theatre like they did with some of The Goon Shows, it would be more
sensible.

A lot of the musical/comedy radio show were held in front of a live
audience. And during WWII, the comedians/singers would waive
all admission fees for servicepeople. My Dad would talk about
the time Bing Crosby invited him to sit on the stage because he
(my Dad) was in uniform.
