I'm quite surprised at that, no, I'm amazed! You'd have thought he'd
have said a few words, not least because both actors were expected to
attend, for the first time in Mike's case I believe. Moreover, Gerry
has always been extremely complimentary about Ed – "first-class
person" – "favorite actor" etc. etc.- you'd have thought that level
of esteem in life warranted a personal tribute which, it seems, he
hasn't paid anywhere.

It was shown eventually, at the very end of the (3 year
long!?!?!) "run" in August 1999 (according to the archives). Someone
commented that Equity had changed a rule to do with actors/ actresses
being able to stop screenings and this might have been why it did get
aired, despite the objection.

I think the original source of this was the Fanderson magazine, when
they announced the run starting on BBC in 1996. It seems strange
considering that all the episodes had been screened several times on
cable/ satellite in the UK during 1995. Maybe that was why – whoever
it was, couldn't bear to have it aired again, especially on
terrestrial TV!!

Seeing as how Fanderson was the source, I should think it was
genuine. Having said that, they did do an "April Fool"
about "UFO:1999", something else being discussed in the archives
around that time, although I can't see the point in saying something
like that if untrue!

I can't subscribe to either actor speculated, since both lived in the
USA at the time. It must have been an actor (or actress?) resident
in the UK to have bothered! In any case, Mike B. would've asked for
the whole series to be stopped – given his opinion of his performance
in it!

Sorry if this reads like a rant – I'm not a happy (or well) bunny -
pain tends to make you irritable - especially at 5am!!

Dear All,

It might have been to painful for him to make a comment, Gerry himself is getting older and as time goes on less of his former colleagues are still around.

I once remember an old work colleague telling me about his old dad who justexisted to go to his old WW2 Buddies funeral's.............A pretty Sad existance ?

It may be that Gerry is embroiled in his new Expolits of Captain Scarlet and cannot Dwell on the past ?

Ed & Mike would probably just laugh and say Get on with your Lives and keeplooking Forward !

Regards

Death affects people differently. It may be hard for him to say anythingbecause some men don't like to be sentimental or cry.
