We hear that the German version of this episode was modified so that Commander Straker's son lives. However, in the original English version he dies! >As I said, I just joined you, so I'm not up to date here. Can you >tell me what the most current status of UFO on DVD is? The current status is that nothing has been officially announced, but we have reached the rumor stage... :-) Supposedly, in the UK Cartlon will start releasing UFO on Region 2 PAL DVD sometime in the year 2001. Also supposedly, in the USA A&E will start releasing UFO on Region 1 NTSC DVD sometime in the year 2001. So it's at least 3 months aways. In the meantime, you can buy all 26 episodes on PAL VHS in the UK, and 8 episodes on NTSC VHS in the USA. I can't say that I like those dramatic endings - usually, when I hear in advance the hero(ine) of a movie dies in the end, I don't watch the movie in the first place! :-) As I said, UFO has just been started once again on German TV. I missed the first episode, but the second was "Exposed" and the third one "Survival". According to the FAQ on your page that would make "Question of priorities" either the next but one, or the 25th in order. Well, who even mentions such slight differences... ;-) MM> Supposedly, in the UK Cartlon will start releasing UFO on Region 2 MM> PAL DVD sometime in the year 2001. Well, that's something. MM> Also supposedly, in the USA A&E will start releasing UFO on Region 1 MM> NTSC DVD sometime in the year 2001. Is there any information about which will come first and if the DVDs as such (bonus features, soundtracks) will be identical save for the different formats? Do you know how many might be released, four episodes per DVD as usual? Will there be a "box set"? By the way, UFO was produced in the UK, right? So to get the real "original" the Cartlon-DVDs would be the ones? MM> In the meantime, you can buy all 26 episodes on PAL VHS in the UK, and MM> 8 episodes on NTSC VHS in the USA. Thank you, but I'd rather wait for the DVD. If one day they decide not to publish them after all, I can still buy the videos. Episodes of TV series have that convenient 45 minutes-running time which means there are much more occasions to watch them as you would have for a full two hour-movie. But it also means the epsiodes will get played a lot, and I feel more comfortable in the knowledge that there will not be any degradation in quality over the years - ergo, DVD. MM> http://ufo.simplenet.com/videos Yes, I've already been there, thanks again. By the way - do you have some kind of access-limit on that site or can anyone draw as many MBs as they want without raising the cost on you? There is so much stuff there that I'd like to "mirror" it and check it out offline. RU! (48o18'13''N/10o10'32''E) |
