Watched the episode last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. Always
great to see Lt Ellis and I'd forgotten her role in the rescue
attempt. I also realized in this episode that loyalty for Straker is
very much a two way street. Alec was ready to toss Foster out on his
ear at the first slight but Straker knew that something was lurking
beneath the surface.
It was great to see Paul Foster's evil side: the nasty comments,
verbal assaults and well thought out plot to kill his boss. The
contrast with the near-broken man at the end was excellent. It
reminded me of a MILLENNIUM episode where a devout Catholic school boy
is turned into a serial killer by some rather evil brain experiments.
He was horrified by what he did but couldn't stop, and killed himself
when he realized that the seed for his actions had not been planted
but nurtured and allowed to blossom. Foster seemed to be going through
the same anguish after Jackson determined what had happened, but
fortunately he regained control.
I'll have to watch it some time with the commentary, if I can ever
figure out how to do it with WINDVD.
