I'm going to have to find an episode listing showing the "correct" order. Of
course that could spark a huge debate as to which is canon---production
order or broadcast order---an argument that went on for a while on the 1999
list a year or so ago.

To get beck to the point, I remember when I first saw UFO, back in eighth
grade. Every Sunday at 7:00PM on Channel 5, the local ABC affiliate. The
last episode shown there was CAT WITH TEN LIVES and the thing that shocked
me was the fact that the "aliens" were discovered to be humans and that the
true extraterresttials could be in any form. i.e. the cat.

I thought that was a strange last episode and when I read somewhere that
there was to be a second season I wondered what that "last episode"
revelation would lead into. Shades of the movie THE THING or BODY SNATCHERS
where anyone or anything is suspect.

That was my take, but since you mentioned LONG SLEEP, I kind of liked the
episode. A nod to the drug culture and freedom of the sixties, and the rural
setting didn't bother me since I was living on a farm at the time and wished
a UFO would have landed in our barn. I remembered liking the music, too.

That was so long ago and I wish I could see the series again. Invasion:UFO
on the occasional backwater cable chanel just doesn't cut it.

While he provides 6 episode orders including his own, I don't think
that there's much controversy about which is the last episode.

Maybe I was misunderstood (like John), I like UFO, enjoyed all the
episodes, and wouldn't be here if I didn't. As with James, I'm just
being critical about some details. In this case the plot and it's
consistency with the main premise of the series (body snatching).

Since we're talking about The Long Sleep, I'll add the Aliens looked
like clowns playing tag for the bomb fuse, when they should have
easily handled our high flying pair. Who was on drugs?

Do I think the portrayal of the 60's hippie culture was groovy?
You bet. Did I like the psychedelic atmosphere? Sure did.

But in relation to the series, it didn't fit. But who knows, maybe
UFO could have succeeded with a shift towards a strange stories.
It would have predated the X-files by some 20 years.

I see your point but as I think I said before, such a shift in the basic
premise of the series was probably necessary in order to prevent it going
stale. Again, I simply think the later eps were a little more cerebral than
some of the others - e.g Cofetti Check a-ok - possibly the worst ep of UFO
:):)

Yep - but no doubt the distributors in the UK will in their infinite wisdom
decide we shall get them 12 or so months after they have been released in
the US!
