Well, ekcherly, I had George Clooney down as Alec Freeman :-D
Winona Ryder as Gay Ellis would steal a few... scenes <smirk>
Who for Foster?
Nicole Kidman for Virginia... Lake! (without the nose job)
The tarty one from Sex in the City for Jo Frazer.
But I cannot come up with a current actor for Straker. So I'll go with
Amelia's suggestion of Eminem. Inspired, dear, inspired. :-D

Realistically, the movie would not be made for the original fan base - a fan
base small enough and old enough to be considered meaningless by the
producers. Daredevil and Spiderman, the Trek movies and MI have, I suspect,
quite different fan bases than our beloved UFO. Whatever you think of the MI
movies - I enjoyed the first one, thought the second one was simply silly -
they did the business at the box office. A UFO movie with the old premise
and the old actors would bomb. Sad but true. Only IMO, natch.

Solaris was a bit dull... but also quite bleak. I did think that might bode
well for a UFO movie that at least adhered to the original downbeat feel to
the series.

Carley,
I've seen the original Solaris which is a Russian Sci-Fi movie, and it
was bleak. So if the producer kept that in the U.S. remake he might just be
the right one to do a remake of our beloved UFO IMO of course.
