Your comments weree very interesting and have me more eager than ever to get
the DVDs so I can see UFO again
(I haven't seen it since 1975---unless you count INVASION:UFO in 1980)
Survival is one of the more memorable episodes.

Your comments about Alien capabilities reminded me of THE MAN WHO FELL TO
EARTH. Technologically able to send someone to another star system but only
as a last resort to save a planet literally dying of thirst. Were the
"visitors" of UFO also "alien beings from a dying planet" brought to life
by THE INVADERS television series in the sixties and before that by WAR OF
THE WORLDS and countles other movies? Maybe they were capable but no longer
had the resources...

I get the impression that alien technology is advanced but has not
advanced further for a long time and they have got into a stasis of
using the same kit and not inventing or designing anything new.
