In case there may be fans of Space 1999, this message has been posted
on the Eagle Transporter website, which also deals w/ UFO as well: Sad news today in that we have lost a major Space:1999 star. Barry apparently passed away yesterday after a short period of ill health. I always thought he was one of the better characters in the show and a good talker at the conventions - I remember at an early Con he was only supposed to be on stage for half an hour but was still going strong after an hour plus with the organisers desperately trying to remove him. |
Does anyone remember this 26 minute sci-fi short produced for Canadian TV? It was about two doctors (Morse and Kate Reid) and they conduct time experiments that transport a neanderthal child to the present. He bonds with Reid who ends up going back in time with him.

Very sad news indeed. I remember Barry Morse from The Fugative when I was a kid and the series had me on the edge of my seat every week. He was great as Lt. Gerrard. Fantastic in Space 1999 as well, of course. He will be sadly missed. --- In [hidden email], richard curzon <hammeramicus2002@...> wrote: > > Does anyone remember this 26 minute sci-fi short produced for Canadian TV? Very sad news about Barry Morse - my husband and I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in person here in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada at the capitol Theatre about 20 yrs ago. And of course we knew him from The Fugitive and Space: 1999. Pam the Canuck [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Sadly the obituary skips all of his excellent ITC work: The Adventurer (1972), The Zoo Gang (1973) and Space: 1999 (1974-5); along with his spots on Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. I didn't realize Barry Morse would have a mini- thread here on the
UFO list so I'll drop a couple of Barry links to my site in case any of you would like to here some of his speeches. I have images of Barry and the 1999 speech from the LA con on my What's New page http://captphilonline.com/WhatsNew.html and a bunch of pictures from the 2005 con along with all the speeches from that con (Including Shane Rimmer and a conference call with Sylvia Anderson) here on my 2005 convention page http://captphilonline.com/Earthbound.html I remember somewhere during one of the Shane Rimmer speeches asking him about UFO (He was the pilot in Identified) and he said, "I don't remember a damn thing about that show Phil, now would you please sit down and be quiet!" ; - ) --- In [hidden email], "Marc Martin" <marc@...> wrote: > > > is it official? went onto the internet movie database > > and they're saying he is stil alive. as a tribute to > > him i watched a couple of Space 1999 episodes. > > It is official... > > http://www.thestar.com/News/Obituary/article/300247 > > Marc > |

I always thought that his portrayal of Victor Bergman was excellent. He added depth and subtle homor to SPACE: 1999. he and his immense talent will be sorely missed. (It was no surprise to me, though, that the first tribute to Mr. Morse came from Martin Landau.) Will |
