Re: Stuart Meyers, Aliens, and such

Hi All,

Chris Bentley, the author of THE COMPLETE BOOK OF UFO, sent me an email
about our recent discussions about Stuart Meyers:

-------
Hi Marc,

Stuart Myers is not an actor that I have previously heard of associated with
UFO, but I agree that your screen grab of the Alien in 'Computer Affair'
looks quite like him and it therefore seems possible that he appeared in the
series - particularly as he was playing similar roles in 'Doctor Who' at
that time. However, I have asked Gito Santana about him and also sent Gito a
photo that might jog his memory, but he says he does not recognise Stuart
Myers, has never heard of him and has never worked with him.

As regards the Alien actor listings given in the 'Complete' book...

Gito Santana is the captured Alien in the SHADO Medical Centre at the end of
'Identified'. Gito has clear memories of filming the scene with the removal
of the contact shell from his left eye. Some sources list an actor named
Stanley Bray as playing the dead aged Alien, although I have not been able
to confirm this. Gito denies that anyone else played that particular Alien
in those scenes and that the aged Alien is him too - he remembers the heavy
make-up being applied to make him look old.

Both Gito Santana and Shane Rimmer recall playing the Aliens in the woods at
Black Park in 'Computer Affair' - Shane says that this was the one and only
time that he was an Alien as he found the costume too uncomfortable to work
in. It seems likely that Shane only appears in some of the shots and was
replaced by Stuart Myers (or whoever that is in your screen grab) in others,
but without the call sheets for the location filming on that episode, it is
impossible to say with any certainty.

Hugo Panczak is the captured Alien back at SHADO HQ towards the end of that
episode. Panczak is also the blond-haired Mobile Navigator (Clyde) in 'The
Square Triangle' - if you compare the two episodes, you can see that it's
clearly the same guy.

Gito Santana says that he also remembers playing an Alien on the SHADO HQ
set in the later episodes (which can only have been for 'Mindbender') and
playing an Alien at the farmhouse in 'The Long Sleep' - he remembers working
with Tessa Wyatt. However, this latter appearance may possibly have been for
the cellar scenes or even for the scenes where the Aliens are dragging Tim
away to their UFO. Neither of the actors in your behind the scenes picture
of the farmhouse roof appears to be Gito, but this would make sense as it
seems most likely that they were both stuntmen hired specifically for that
scene.

The two remaining Alien actors listed in the book (Richard Aylen and Anthony
Chinn) are, of course, both credited for their roles on screen (in 'A
Question Of Priorites' and 'The Square Triangle' respectively).

Regards,
Chris
