According to the Reynolds and Hearn
website, this book will be the same style and format as Chris Bentley's previous THE COMPLETE BOOK OF THUNDERBIRDS and THE COMPLETE BOOK OF CAPTAIN SCARLET & THE MYSTERONS. So I think we can expect the same high quality as those two books. |

I just got an e-mail from author Chris Bentley. He does confirm that the UFO book will is exactly the same style and format as the Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet books -- same large page size, matching layout, integrated photos on every page, etc. However, unlike those previous books, 100% of the photos on the inside of the book are in black & white. :-( Unfortunately, the publisher did not believe that there was enough of a demand to justify full color printing. (in this case, low pre-order figures for the book prevented them from including color photos and in turn raising the price) Of course, we have to remember that Carlton Books rejected Chris' proposal to make a UFO book, so we should consider ourselves lucky that we have a UFO book at all. There are some upsides to this however -- due to the expense of the full-color printing, the previous books were limited to 128 pages and 200 photos. The UFO book will be 176 pages and have 500 photos. Also, the UFO book has 120,000 words instead of 80,000. Some more information on the book -- unlike the previous books, this book will have a whole chapter devoted to the cast members, plus will have a more detailed episode guide, and a 19 page section of deleted scenes. Thanks for clarifying that Marc and Chris. Though I am disappointed that
there is no color section at all, it sounds like it will still be a great book. Thanks, Marc, for sharing the information with us! A 19 page section of deleted scenes? Well, I can't help it but it sounds great! Can hardly wait for receiving the book! :-)) Christian |
