I am in the CGI-related groups [hidden email] and [hidden email], and the assemblage of CGI forums and download lists http://www.renderosity.com ; but there, any matter specifically about the UFO series, or about any one particular movie series, gets drowned in people who are making semi-porn and fantasy and general art and are not concerned with UFO. That is, the same happens there as Marc's last sentence describes, but the other way round. That is why I suggested a new group [hidden email] . So far, via Renderosity, my Gerry Anderson UFO alien Poser model has had 814 downloads, and my posable UFO (spinner) model has had 655 downloads. I posted in Renderosity a picture including my alien, describing him merely as "a spaceman on an expedition", and someone recognized him as a UFO series alien. > And nobody needs my permission to start up there own UFO related > mailing list. Seems like there's quite a few of them now, all > created without my permission... :-) An Alta Vista search just now for "+UFO +Gerry +Anderson" found 1138 web pages. I just called the searcher which is on http://www.egroups.com 's home page, for "UFO Gerry Anderson", and it showed 3 groups: [hidden email] [hidden email] [hidden email] ; the text describing ISOSHADO is in Italian. F_A_B (with underlines) is about all Gerry Anderson serieses. What UFO-related groups are there on other servers? Again: Please who in this group would join a group [hidden email] ? , before I risk creating it and have to venture into the unknown paths of being a group-administrator. |

There also is a ITC Egroups list in which members (Including xomeone who works for Carlton) discuss the various ITC programs (GA stuff included) and the status of there DVD releases. Sort of interesting. I read it in digest mode and it gets 1-5 messages a day. The Supercar list is interesting too but has nothing to do with UFO. There is also a CGI Fireball XL5 list that i don't read but it's there. As for owning the list, Egroups makes this sort of thing very automated and easy. When the groups get over 200 or so it gets a little hectic, especiallty if you have to moderate a member (I moderate the Online Alpha list) but for the most part it seems to run itself. Probably helps if you have a fast net connection as the Egroups interface is web based and the pages have to load to make changes. And as owner, if you can't do it (I own 2 lists) you can always call it quits and invite members to start their own Egroup. >Again: Please who in this group would join a group [hidden email] ? , >before I risk creating it and have to venture into the unknown paths of being >a group-administrator. I probably would sign in as digest only but would only be interested in seeing work. I don't know how to create CGI on the PC...yet! |
