Re: UFO movie Possibilities

Pam McCaughey
Well, it's true that many sequels DO suck. I've hated so many of them,
whether they were done for the big or small screen. I'm just hoping the dude
who wants to re-make UFO is enough of a fan to think like most of us on the
e-group and consider keeping some of the old characters and adding some new.
I'd like to see the idea updated to the millennium, with a melange of
old-new people to cheer on. of course I'd love to see Mike B and Ed B and
Peter Gordeno, et al reprise their old roles - who doesn't? But let's face
it - they're all getting a bit long in the tooth for the action parts, so
let's bring in some younger faces to handle the hard stuff (like hand to
hand with aliens etc) and have our heroes do the administrating of SHADO. If
Straker took over for Henderson, he might forge new and better deals for
SHADO funding, with Foster taking over Straker's old responsibility seat,
and Alec as an advisor. I tend to see the older characters moving into
positions of high command - admirals, generals, etc - and younger bodies
doing the real hard work. Even so, this would give us scope for seeing our
old favourites running SHADO better than ever! I see room for both old and
new here, without sacrificing the original premise or what made us love the
show in the first place.
