I don't know when velcro was invented, but it looks to me as tho the men's
suit jackets on UFO have velcro closings on some of them - I've heard a few
rippy noises when Straker opens his jacket that sounds somewhat like Velcro
being pulled apart. I know it was in use in the 60's because I
have......ahem.....homemade Barbie dresses with Velcro closings on them.....

Crikey - yes, I remember when I was a kid my parents bought me (against
their better judgement, but I thought it was "groovy") this ghastly red
plastic mini tunic dress, with... you guessed it... Velcro fastenings :*

I found a photo of me wearing the damn thing about a year ago and
winced, but thinking about it - it would have been very "WITH-IT" at a
UFO disco.....! :-)

I agree, it was definitely around in the 60s - my parents used
to drag me abroad to France or Spain every year to suffer in a
tent for a couple of weeks every year back then, and velcro was
absolutely de rigeur for fashionable camping equipment. A
dreadful faux pas to fasten your kagool with anything else.

Well there you go Rob...BTW Pam I had Barbie garments with just the same
closings in the 1960's.

I remember reading or seeing on a documentary about the Apollo 1 fire that
there was a lot of Velcro in the Apollo 1 capsule and that is was really
flammable. Am I right? That would but Velcro in use in 1967.
