hi, welcome.
Actually several years ago I thought of trying to do a UFO role
playing game. I was working on it when I had to move and it sort of got side
tracked and put on the back burner and due to other factors has sort of been
forgotten till you mentioned it.
I found a role playing system called G.U.R.P.S. which stands for
Generic Universal Role Playint System. It lets you make your own characters
and weapons and equipment. The system is rather easy to use and you can
adapt it to any sort of world you want to create. You start out with a 100
character points For example Straker would be near perfect in all abilities
so his would look something like this.
STRENGTH: 14(athlete)45 points
DEXTERITY: 13(graceful/athlete)30 points
INTELLIGENCE:15(near genius)60 points
HEALTH:16(very healthy)80 points
Okay now you are saying but thats 215 points and you only have a 100 to
create your character with. Well that is because we are talking Straker not
a average character which is what a 100 points will make in the basic game.
For a average character who we will call SHADO Operative X you would have to
pick you abilities according to what you want you main ability to be.
Average ability in any catogory costs zero points so you could do this.
SHADO Operative X
STRENGTH:10(average)0 points
DEXTERITY:10(average) 0 points
INTELLIGENCE:12(bright average) 20 points
HEALTH:16(very health) 80 points
and you get a very good playable character.
the sytem is too long to go into fully. I you want to give it a try find
a copy of GURPS Basic Rules.
