Re:real amnesia drug

Deborah Rorabaugh-2
I've read about this research - it's not a true amnesia drug ala UFO. How it
works is to delink a bad memory from its negative physiological reaction
through repetition of the memory while under the influence of the beta
blocker. I imagine any beta blocker would work but propranolol is the drug
of choice. (Fact - memory is also stored in the body - I do not run from the
bear because I am afraid. I am afraid because my body had the good sense to
run.)

It's a promising treatment for PTSD.

Hi, I just ran across this article on a real amnesia drug. It is
interesting, however, I am skeptical about the study with propranolol. It is
a beta blocker and the results described as "fewer signs of stress such as a
raised heart rate" were likely due to its effects on blood pressure and
heart rate not due to memory loss.

In UFO, I don't recall them mentioning how far back in time the memories
would be erased but this research is targeted towards erasing certain
specific memories, not periods of time.
