There is a little evidence in the canon (e.g. time needed to drive to central
London) that Harlington-Straker Studios are on the edge of London. Perhaps as
a replacement for the real Elstree Studios (on the north edge of London) which
were used to film UFO scenes set out of doors at Harlington-Straker Studios.
That point was not realized by one fan fiction author who wrote of Harlington-
Straker Studios and Elstree Studios both existing in the world of his/her
story.
One canon episode shows a letter envelope addresed to "Harlington-Straker,
West Harlington, Wessex". Wessex is correctly a modern historians' name for a
kingdom called Westseaxna that ruled parts of southwest England in Anglo-Saxon
times and its capital was Winchester. But "Wessex" is often used loosely by
modern fiction authors as a name of an unspecified unlocalized English county.
But I regret that I did not realize that last point when in two UFO stories
that I wrote (
http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/ufo/end.txt and
http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/ufo/end2.txt , in them the public find out
about the aliens) I went heretical and placed Harlington-Straker Studios and
SHADO headquarters in the Somerset and Wiltshire sort of area.
