UFO - SHADO Prop Pistol Prototype
Since I first saw Gerry Anderson's TV series UFO in 1970, I have collected everything I could find. I always wanted the a decent prop replica ofUFO Shado Weapons. Finally after almost Forty Years - I am about to complete my first UFO pistol project. I joined a replica prop group and learnedto make the prototype and resin casting. I tried to capture the spirit ofthe design. I only have screen caps as reference. It is full size 1:1 scale. I have spent hundreds of hours of research, material, and scratch building parts to come up with this version. It is a labor of love. This is going to be a resin kit for hardcore UFO fans. I am only making a few for those who want them. The pistol will have either the Solid silver muzzle security model or the ribbed muzzle version (Acoustic gun). I am still working on the ribbed muzzle. I am ordering the resin and RTV molding material for the run. The kits y will be expensive because it is a very small run and I am using the proceedsto finance the production of the Grey Rifle/submachine gun, and the Large black Shoulder Rifle used by Straker and Col Lake in the Timelash episode. The project was put together for only hardcore UFO fans - because kids these days don't know what UFO is. I need to know if there is any interest in the project here. Once the run is done - it will likely be it. I will be working on the rifles to completion - then done. So .... I posted a pic of the prototype: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/8P9KTHiSsM5_axOlKa2doyX052rHwmshjKO5gsdBsV7ssu-25Icjz-WU5_QmqgCyep7sasK-klhyyQ5xUj-WNpA42FUEGHA/UFO%20Shado%20Weapons%20-%20Prop%20Pisto/RPF%20UFO2.jpg The pics are posted in the Pic section. This is a production by a fan - for hardcore UFO fans. Please tell me what you think. If anyone owns any of the original prop guns and would share reference pics - I am doing the best I can to acurately reproduce details of the original. It will not be exact. Everyone finds difference in sizes and details. Please do not be mean spirited in criticism. This entire pistol was made from scratch. I am trying to upgrade my shop with equipment to turn out real aluminum pieces someday. If there is no interest - I will complete the pistol and rifles for my own collection and move on. There is no real money in this project - and I expect a loss - but I will produce five of each for my collection and a coupleof prop collectors that loved UFO. This is absolutely incredible. I actually thought the pic was of an original prop. Wow. Fabulous work! I would be really interested in getting one ..depending on price, although superb craftsmanship is always worth having! You should get one to the Convention in Oct so that other UFO fans can see your work

The UFO pistol will be ready soon. I am almost finished with the
prototype and sending an order for the molding chemicals and resin. I will send detailed pics as soon as they are ready - likely adding this weekend. Some of you will likely have the pistol to show at the CON in Oct. I think you will be surprised at the product. Gordon [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Hello,
I tried to join the Fanderson group - applied and got no response. I was trying to find out who is interested in the UFO weapons props. The Pistol should be finished this weekend and i will post updated pics for those interested. I will be setting the molds hopefully in the next week for a test run of ten kits. Does anyone know what happened to the original weapons from the UFO series? In building the replicas, it did not appear that the weapons used real magazines, or ejection ports. All I could think of is that they were shells that fired some type of gas operation. Any thoughts. Gordon [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
