Running time for every episode/ let's make a cinematic saga!

Hi UFO-HEADS,

I was wondering about the REAL running time for every episode. Scrap
the opening intro (just a rehash of sequences taken from the episodes
themselves) the commercials (when there were ones), the final
credits... IMDB reports aprox. 45 minutes for a single episode.
What do you think about it?

Then, it would be ultra-cool to "package" the episodes in order to
make "UFO movies" a-la STAR WARS... what would be the
perfect "assemblage" of them in your opinion? We can get 6/7 movies
each running 180 minutes or slightly more.

Branko
Hello all.

Compilation movies of UFO episodes have been done, first in Italy (and shown
theatrically) and then as a paret of ITS's "Super Space Theater" project
(which resulted in "Invasion UFO" telefilm. I haven't seen Italian
compilation (though I haven't heard anything good about them, but I can say
that "Invasion UFO" is pretty horrible. I haven't seen UFO for ages, and
when I saw "Invasion UFO" after all those years, I thought that memory is
playing tricks with me and I was wrong liking the series so much and asking
myself what did I like at all? Only later Channel 5 videos with complete
episodes reassured me how good UFO was and still is. I still wonder how
could they succeed so much in ruining the series in the editing process.
Beside the purist view that all the good things should stay the way they
were intended the first time, that dramatic flow of the stories was intended
for them to last around 50 minutes,"Invasion UFO" is really, really bad
stuff, even worse then "Star Wars Special Editions" (but not as bad as "Star
Wars" prequels - it's UFO, even in this buttchered state)
All the best,
Branko

That's pretty easy to calculate... just pop in your DVDs and look
at the time on the DVD player. A typical UFO episode is between
49-50 minutes (NTSC, no commercials, including opening/closing
credits). IDENTIFIED is a bit longer, at about 51 minutes.
For the PAL versions, the episode is running 4% faster, so it's
probably more like 47-48 minutes per episode.

I don't see any reason to reassemble them into "movies"... leave
them "as-is"! We've got too many people attempting to "improve"
things as it is... I see that they are now broadcasting the
original 1960's episodes of "Star Trek" with new CGI special
effects replacing the original effects -- why bother?
