SHADO Logo - Aircraft.

Kevin Lazenby-3
It would have been much better, for security sake, to have had the
Harlington-Straker film studio logo`s on ALL the aircraft, instead of the
SHADO logo.

As to the Mobiles and Skydivers, as these don`t have such logo`s on them,
the public might believe them to be `normal` military craft, if they
inadvertantly came across them.

A thought also crossed my mind; Straker and Foster have shown ID Cards.
Would they be military [Considering SHADO doesn`t officially exist], or
some other kind of ID eg MI5/6, Special Branch etc.

Sure it would !

We are the Paramilitary are of Harlinton-Straker and we are going to ask
your questions and blow things up but don't worry about it!

And all of a sudden a tank leaves the grounded aircraft. But no need
for questioning this ;-)

The Mobiles don't have a logo, that's right, Kevin, but instead
they've got the writing "SHADO" on it - which could be much worse.

It's a funny thing that in THE RESPONSIBILTY SEAT Straker is very
concerned about the fact that Ford said "Commander Straker" (and Miss
Fraser recorded this) but when Foster and his men get into a house in
THE SQUARE TRIANGLE or the guards hunting Foster on the studio lot in
COURT MARTIAL, all with their SHADO badges on, Straker doesn't lose
any sleep over it!

In my fanfic, I keep all the hardware logo-less so they won't be identified.
because I created a sister organization for SHADO, called Omega, some of my
characters carry Omega cards. Omega is a computer company which is working
to overtake Microsoft, so it doesn't appear to have a military background.

All of Christian's points are very valid and proof once again of VERY sloppy
writing, continuity in UFO. These things should have been addressed and all
SHADO personnel and hardware should have been logoless and nameless to
attract less attention. If an organization is trying to stay below the
radar, the last thing they should do is advertize all over the place with
their name! I think this mistake was a carry-over from shows like the
Thunderbirds which had their logs and name all over their equipment - GA and
his writers didn't make the jump well from constructing kiddie shows which
require little thinking about what would be realistic, to UFO, which ahd
real actors, and supposedly a realistic threat.

Those were their Fanderson ID cards.

In my CSI-UFO crossover, I have Grissom trying to approach an alien
extermination site (he doesn't know that it is) and the soldiers who stop
him enroute have no ID badges, no shoulder flashings, nothing to identify
them as military of any branch. He notes this, being the smart guy he is,
but still doesn't know who they are at the time. They're in fatigues, flak
jackets, special helmets, et al. And the hardware he sees later on also have
no identifying markings on them.

Pam, what's an 'alien extermination site'?

Hi James - an alien extermination site is (in my stories at least) a
location in which our SHADO heroes go in to clean out a nest of aliens
who've set up a beach-head. I've written stories in which our little green
friends manage to set up small to large sites, mostly in remote areas around
the world, from which to work. Their bases are staffed by their own greenies
and they use the bases for everything from the diversion of natural
resources and mining products, to the capture of humans for organ
harvesting.

SHADO sends out extermination teams to crash these sites, and neutralize
them so they can no longer work out of these bases, and in doing so, they
try to capture alien technology, and live aliens for interrogation.
Unfortunately, the aliens like to fight to the last man or commit suicide,
thus giving the SHADO folk no chances at getting info out of them.
