SID INTERIOR

Ed Top
I remember Gerry saying that he wasn't happy with the interior of SID because it
looked like a "telephone exchange" or something. Ironically, SID's interior
looks so much better than whirling reel-to-reel tapes at SHADO. I think it's
because a lot of things nowadays are on Hard Drive and there's an ever
decreasing need for 'moving parts' in technology.

I think the interior of SID looks excellent - "colourful emptiness" - and is a great example of the quality of design in the show. The spareness of the design makes it look very enigmatic and, as you say, much less dated than the computers in SHADO HQ.

Wasn't the SID interior re-used in Space:1999, for the inside of Voyager 2?

My memory is telling me so but I'm just not sure.

Re: SID INTERIOR

I don't believe so, doubtful it would still be in existence by then. However I think SID's interior was built puppet size.

You might be correct there; why am I not more observant? I did spot a reel 2 reel machine in the int' of the craft in Dragon's Domain, (a more terrifing episode I always recall from childhood,)  other than that the design was inspiring and real: I was really impressed by it.
