I'm sure that there are those here who were saddened by the recent death of such a prominent amateur astronomer.
I saw him in person once, at a lecture he gave in my home town, in which he talked enthusiastically about the merits of amateur astronomy, a field in which he was so great an example.
I've always appreciated the fact that, though he was a fast talker, I could understand perfectly every word he said! :D
