Hi People,
I'm fairly new to this group - though a long time fan of UFO. I grew up watching the series on black and white TV in New Zealand and owned both the Dinky Interceptor and Shado 2. I always wanted a SkyDiver, but I guess Dinky didn't! Anyway, to cut a long story short, it's 25 years or so later and now I have the Wave resin re-cast of SkyDiver. I won it on eBay and have had it for about a month now. The castings aren't fantastic - all I've done so far is basically Dremel, putty and sand. The mostdrastic thing I've done so far is to cut the roof off the cockpit as I want to detail the interior. Anyway, I guess I'd just like to share hints and tips with people out there who have built this model... Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Bruce |
Hi, Bruce!!!!!
Welcome to the list! My beau doesn't have that model, but he makes models (he manufactures resin kits) and would probably like to talk with you. He's not on the list anymore, though this is where we met - True! Anyway, I shall cc this to him and y'all can talk. <batting eyelids sweetly> -- Y [hidden email] wrote: > > Hi People, > I'm fairly new to this group - though a long time fan of UFO. > I grew up watching the series on black and white TV in New Zealand and > owned both the Dinky Interceptor and Shado 2. Thanks, uhmm, 'y'! :)
It'd be great to talk to someone who makes the molds. The kit I received was one very, how should I say this... CRAPPY casting. I've done a few resin kits in my time, but his has to be one of the worst for warpage, pinholes and excess resin. My milliput supply is dwindling, the Dremel is constantly on re-charge and if you're interested in a get-rich quick scheme, I suggest buying stocks in Carborundum. Thanks for the warm welcome, it's great to be here! Cheers, Bruce >From: Yuchtar <[hidden email]> >To: [hidden email] >CC: "David B. Hi there Bruce! Welcome to our egroup - be it ever so humble, it's UFO.
Thanks for sharing the info about the Skydiver model. I have a very small Sky One model I purchased through Monsters in Motion late last year, but it isn't together as yet. At least you can detail the model yourself and make it really nice. Most of my models are ocean liners and Trek (i.e. Titanic, Lusitania, Deep Sapce 9, the Enterprise, etc), but I'd like to eventually get more UFO inspired models. How did you find out about the one on eBay? Pam |

Hi Pam...
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm top bidder (by accident) on the same model you have which is up for grabs on eBay right now. I found this the same way I find all the stuff I'm looking for - just type something like SkyDiver into the 'What Are You Looking For' box. I say 'by accident' because from the picture, the model kit doesn't look like anything like the Imai kit. If anyone wants to see it or outbid me (PLEASE!) just go to http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1609181635 I have a lot of Trek models too, I cut my teeth on TOS Enterprise which my Grandparents brought back for me from America when I was about ten years old. It was painted with Dad's red enamel house paint. Aaaaaaaaargh! Anyway, thanks again for the welcome - it's great to be here!
