doing with their Gerry Anderson DVDs...

Subject: 1999 on DVD (UK)
It has been announced formally that Carlton will be releasing SPACE 1999
on DVD in April 2001 here in the UK. Three volumes will initially be
released at this time each with four episodes (Year 1) per DVD.Thats
half the series made available immediately! (None of the waiting 2 or
more years that we suffered during ITC Home Videos haphazard release
schedule...)
The price of each DVD is expected to be £15.99. I'm not sure if there
will be an opportunity to buy box sets etc and I presume the remainder
of Y1 and then Y2 will follow.
As an aside, ITC's other DVD releases (eg THE PERSUADERS,THE
CHAMPIONS,RANDALL AND HOPKIRK.THE SAINT,DANGER MAN(aka SECRET AGENT)
will resume in February next year. So far only one DVD volume of these
series have been released (2 episodes per tape). From next February
these DVDs will also have 4 rather than 2 episodes per tape and the
price is also expected to be £15.99. Volume 3 issues are expected in
May.
Back to hard-headed commercial reality though and further issues (on DVD
or video) of DEPARTMENT S,MAN IN A SUITCASE and JASON KING have been
postponed due to poor sales. A constant reminder of how fragile this
sort of market is I suppose.
