When NASA is getting ready to launch the rocket containing the probe, and they show the men in the NASA control room, one of them has an American accent. And he either butchers the pronunciation of the word "telemetry", or is using a British pronunciation of the word (is it different than we folks in the US say it?). In either case it was wrong for a person with an American accent. The way he said it was similar to this: tell-uh-me-tree A minor point, but after watching the episodes so many times, one has a tendency to notice such things. I might have an explanation for that. The actor was Bob Sherman, an American based in the UK but he was (for some reason) dubbed by Shane Rimmer, a Canadian. Canadians, despite broadly having American accents, pronounce certain words in the British manner (for example they pronounce Lieutenant as "leftenant" and not "lootenant"). Thanks for the explanation! Makes sense. But how the heck did you find out that Bob Sherman's voice was replaced with Shane's? Or do you just pay closer attention than I do? : ) Jeff Nick <[hidden email]> wrote: I might have an explanation for that. Thanks NIck. I'm going to have to check and see if the Chris Bentley book is available here in the US. I am reminded of "Close Up" yet again as I look at the pictures currently coming back from Titan! Not one of the best episodes, I agree, but Gabrielle Drake does look fabulous in it. --- In [hidden email], Jeffrey Nelson <1shado1@s...> wrote: > > Thanks NIck. Turned out it was 16km, if I remember correctly. |
