Strakers clothes

Hi.

I want to have some clothes like Straker is wearing in UFO. Can anyone
help me how/where to get something similar? Is there some fashion
designer who does similar designs nowadays?

Richard Wright (who used to be on the Fab-Ufo list but due to a change of
email provider has unsubbed for the time being) made a Nehru jacket
himself. On his home page there is a photo of him wearing one, I think.
I don't think it should be all that hard to duplicate the Nehru thing
design, it seems pretty straightforward. Same goes for that red dress,
actually. Maybe I should go and buy some suitable cloth. IF I could find
the time....

Hi there,

I'm not sure if I should put this info on the Shado discussion page -
apologies if I should not Marc!!

In response, it all depends on what exactly you want and what part of the
world you are living in. If you live in the UK especially in London, then
yes it is possible to obtain the suits and the roll necks. The suits today
are called nehru coller suits and are are available from a number of west
London mens outfitters i.e on Oxford streeet. You can even obtain them from
British mail order cataloges - esp Kays and Littlewoods.

I did have one nehru collar suit specially made for me by an excellent
bespoke mens taylor - the guys name was Alberto Wusche (pronounced
woosh)who is based in Uxbridge West London. Be warned, he is not cheap!!

The roll necks can be obtained from a shop called Sherry's which is Ganton
street , just off Carnaby St, London. I believe the web site is
WWW.Sherry's.co.uk.

Fair point, we are talking over £350 for a suit of this kind. However, it
did contain silk braid within the jacket. A similar suit without the silk
can easily be obtained for under £200.

I guess any bespoke tailor would make you a nehru suit though if
you asked nicely! No need to travel to Middlesex if you don't
live there..

But you have to be there to do it.

Mine didn't have silk but is groovy to wear out, especially while driving
turbine-gull-wing cars. The orange one especially.
