Hi all,
Sylvia Anderson will be on BBC Radio 4 tomorrow during the "Women's Hour" program (Friday August 31 at 10 am). This should also be archived online at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/womanshour/ Marc |

Hi all,
I listened to the Sylvia Anderson interview, but there was no mention of UFO. :-( Primarily it was an interview about Lady Penelope and Thunderbirds, and was in support of her new book "My FAB Years" (which I expect to get soon, but so far haven't heard from anyone about its UFO content) Marc > Sylvia Anderson will be on BBC Radio 4 tomorrow during > the "Women's Hour" program (Friday August 31 at 10 am). > > This should also be archived online at: > > http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/womanshour/ |

Hi Marc,
there's a eight-page "The UFO Years" chapter of which about four pages in text. But I haven't been able to go through the book yet so I'm unable to report on the UFO contents. It is anyway likely that UFO be mentioned also elsewhere in the book. teresa PS I also listened to the BBC4 programme; it's a pity nothing about UFO was said. ----- Original Message ----- but so far haven't heard from anyone about its > UFO content) |

I've had this book a while now; I regret to say there is no more than this one chapter on UFO and in the main it concerns Sylvia's lifelong friendship with Mike Billington. There may well be some previously unseen photographs throughout the book, although mainly of the crew at work on various productions. > PS I also listened to the BBC4 programme; it's a pity > nothing about UFO was said. I agree, although this perhaps reflects the tone of this book, essentially being Sylvia's memoirs of her life and career, of which she naturally concentrates upon those aspects that showcase her successes and therefore happier memories of working with Gerry, such as the character of 'Lady P', with whom she has since become identified. The effect of the personal side of her relationship with Gerry upon their productions cannot be denied and, understandably as a result both 'UFO' and 'S:1999' are not dwelt upon in detail . Nevertheless, the book is written with an enevitiable female perspective and is imho both interesting and charming to read [:)] Sarah > > ----- Original Message ----- > but so far haven't heard from anyone about its > > UFO content) > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Just saw a movie called "Team America: World Police" on comedy central (an absolutely hillarious film) and I swear I could see a bunch of the UFO characters likened in the film, specifically the puppets for Straker, Col Lake, and Foster. Laughed so hard I could barely breath.... The best part was the repeated song: "America, f*** Yeah!". Didn't the the South Park guys do that movie? I like the way they poked fun at virtually everyone. In some places this movie cannot be seen, let alone produced, since some people do not have a sense of humour. Paul |
