Sorry, Marc. I haven't been on the computer much lately. My favorite aunt
died a few weeks ago, and I'm still dealing with it. I haven't felt like
chatting much. Responsibility Seat isn't in my top five episodes, mostly
because it shows Straker more vulnerable than I like to see (unless I'm the
one working the scene *snicker*). Even the eps with Mary don't dwell on his
isolation and sexuality in the way that this episode does. I have to be in
the mood to watch this one, so I don't watch it often.

There are some really cool scenes in this episode! I love when Jo first
walks into his office and he's doing the whole studio producer bit about
being busy and looks up and sees that she's a woman-- starting with those
wow boots! Great directing. I also like seeing him relaxed at home sharing
a meal with Jo. I think they overdo the whole "poor lonely divorced guy"
thing a bit, but maybe I'm biased. My favorite scene is a tribute to both
Bishop's and Merrow's acting. The bedroom scene plays very powerfully, the
more so when you can see their expressions crystal clear on DVD. Great
stuff!

As some of you know because you've read my stories, I liked the character of
Jo a lot and brought her into my UFO Conover saga to mess with Paul. I
liked her since first seeing her as a teen watching the show and was frankly
astonished last year to see her in this episode after a 25 year gap, only to
realize how ruthless she was. I didn't remember that part from childhood.
So my stories show her a much nicer, if still distinctly ornery, person.
Does that make me noncanon? *grin*
Yours,
Denise

Straker, somehow it's always about you.
