TORCON in 2003?????

Phil-3
Wow!
I've been getting a couple of responses to this TORCON idea since I floated
it out there the other day.

I looked up the TORCON website and have gotten some more details.

TORCON will be held on August 28-September 1, 2003

It will be the 61st World Science Fiction Convention.

Attending rates RIGHT NOW are $200 Canadian or $135 US Dollars. These will
go up as the date comes closer. These are pretty standard rates for a
World Science Fiction Convention but it is expensive.

The guests of honor at TORCON will be: George RR Martin, Mike Glyer, Robert
Bloch, Frank Kelly Freas
, Spider Robinson

Freas you may know is the artist GOH and he's quite good. Martin has the
very successful Game of Thrones series out now but had worked closely on
the 1985 version of The Twilight Zone and the show Beauty and the
Beast. Mike Glyer is a fan GOH I think, Robert Bloch is dead so he must be
the memorial GOH and they will be examining his work and Spider Robinson is
the Toastmaster and has done some pretty good books.

Give me a couple of days, I'll email the persons at TORCON about a room for
a club meeting and see if we can reserve something for during the
convention for a meeting.

I will also approach them about a Gerry Anderson panel or track of panels
if people would be interested in that. But panels, or a track of panels is
a little big, but I think I can pull of a club meeting.

How about calling it a Gerry Anderson Online Fan Club Meeting???

I should have more info in a couple of days. I've only been discussing
this idea on the SHADO group right now. I intend to post about it on the
other GA email lists once i have some more concrete information.
