Hi All,
Here's some bad news which was recently posted on the OnlineAlpha
eGroup. I don't recall this being discussed here before, even
though this happened 2 months ago...

I'm not sure if this has previously been noted on the List, but Terence
Feely - veteran scriptwriter and stalwart of many an ITC series over the
years - passed away on the 13th August. He was 72 years old.
Feely's work covered several genres and extended through film,tv and
theatre works. Among the ITC series he worked on were THE PRISONER, THE
PERSUADERS!,THE PROTECTORS,UFO,SPACE 1999,RETURN OF THE SAINT. Non ITC
series included THE AVENGERS,THE NEW AVENGERS,ARTHUR OF THE
BRITONS,C.A.T.S. EYES, and THE GENTLE TOUCH. A mammoth project was a
script entitled THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF TOM JONES-THE RETURN OF THE
PRODIGAL. This was an expensive period comedy written entirely for film
and coproduced by English,French and American companies.
In interviews Feely made no secret of his love for the ITC shows (poorly
paid though they were) and for Gerry Anderson episodes such as
"Timelash" (UFO) and "The Bringers of Wonder" (Space 1999).
Feelys scripts were, I think, characterised by a certain wittiness and
humour in the proceedings - the sign of a writer clearly having fun and
hoping his audience would too.
Its a sad loss to the TV world and to cult tv in particular, and Terence
Feely will be missed.
Simon
