Thanks to ITV it was over 17 years after the original start broadcast until
I was able to watch 'The Long Sleep'.
If it was shown as part of the original transmissions I never saw it, as an
eleven year old it would have been well past the time I had to go to bed.
When ITV (Granada) finally did show it the slot time was 4am even in the
late 80's !! It was like watching a lost episode (I could have been the
only person watching !) as I don't remember the VHS videos being available
at the time.
>Something I do remember, in November 1974 ITV >Granada made an abrupt
>programme change and replaced the scheduled >programme with a UFO episode
>'The Man Who Came Back'. I was able to watch it >even though it started at
>11pm.
Keith,I remember watching Man who Came Back for the first time in 1974 though I lived (and still do-Hereford) in the ATV Midlands region. Was that on a Saturday night during the 1974 World Cup.Thta night is as vivid as anything in my mind.I can remember everything about it.
As for the Long Sleep I first saw it on Thursday the 15th March 1973 at around 11.15 on ATV Midlands.I never saw it again until I bought the DVD's on 10th June 2002.The first episode I watched when I got the DVD's home.
I mention this only because of the shared values of nostalgia.
I know how you feel.
