The Secret Service

As far as I know "The Secret Service" was never shown in the
Associated Redifusion/LWT/Thames TV area, and I remember being
bemused at seeing a Dinky/Corgi spin-off toy referring to a Gerry
Anderson series I had no knowledge of. Having seen my first
episode "More Haste, Less Speed" on-line today courtesy of this
Group's links, can anyone explain why the Stanley Unwin character
and side-kick are puppet size in a normal live-action world? Was
there a specific reason that they could reduce themselves in size,
or had Gerry "lost it" at this stage???

They were in fact normal sized, but Matthew could be shrunk to fit in a
suitcase and thereby get into places where a normal sized person could not.

Another interesting fact that the car from the series 'Gabriel' was also
used in the first episode of UFO where Ayshea is seen walking in her pink
costume, and later when Straker takes his son round the studios in AQOP.

Fanderson held a convention in Leeds in 1988 (I think) for this show and it
was great - perhaps if you visit their website, they can explain things
further, but the shrinking of Matthew was one of the main 'features' of the show.
