The Square Triangle, a review (of sorts) by Natalie Foster

Natalie Foster
Aside from the acting, or non acting, which wasn't too bad, except that
wifey was a little over the top, of the guest stars, not a bad plot. It
moves along fine, alien comes to Earth looking for humans to steal
organs from, Straker lets it through because he wants to capture and
study it.

A question arises though; Why did the alien put the body in his ship and
then blow it up? I was pretty sure he had no idea he was being hunted,
or maybe he was just paranoid, hard to say. :-\

I think that Straker did act a little too quickly in administering the
amnesia drug, after all he didn't really have all the facts. If he had
held off for a few minutes more, it would have made for a different
ending. Having said that, I do like the way he admistered the drug,
very sneaky. Well, as Straker said, they're not in the moral making
business.

I think they both deserve each other though, he doesn't seem to have a
very nice personality, even if you don't count the fact he came up with
the idea of killing her husband, and if she's just too damned stupid to
realise it well.... One does wonder though, who's name was on the
gravestone?

OK, here's a little snippet of how I imagine that the drug giving scene
/could/ have happened if Foster had spoken to Straker earlier:

Straker and Foster walked into the room where Mrs Fowler and her lover
were waiting.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, but Paul here tells me that you
planed to murder your husband, Mrs Fowler."

"What? I don't know what you mean?" She said.

"That's a lie!"

Straker put up his hands placatingly and continued. "Lie all you want,
but the evidence all points to the fact that you cold bloodedly planed
his death. You're just lucky you didn't succeed. Now, we can easily
hand you over to the local authorities, with the information we have,
but for a little problem." He paused as he took in their expressions,
The man seemed tense, his face was clouded, Mrs Fowler was easier to
read she was scared, pure and simple. "I have in my posession a way out
for one of you. The other, will of course, have to wear the penalty."

"A way out, what do you mean?"

"We have produced an amnesia drug, it's colourless, odourless and
perfectly harmless, all it does is wipe out the last 12 hours of your
memories."

"Why only one of us?" she asked.

"Because with out the other to back up your statement, SHADO, UFO's and
the fact that aliens do exist, will remain a secret."

"The gun, the body...." Mrs Fowler started, but Straker shook his head.

"You fired your gun, but all of the bullets went into the woodwork."

"You've thought of everything, haven't you?"

Straker smiled. "I try to." he said. "Now, all you have to decide is,
which of you is going to take the drug, and which is to take the blame."

Who takes it and who deserve to take the rap?
