Here's an interesting photo that I'd not seen before today. Obviously 'A' is in the middle, but I don't recognise the other two. I am tempted to say that I think the picture must have been taken down near the embankment on the north side of the Thames and that beyond the cranes in the background, we can see Big Ben. That would be my guess anyway.

Yes, I've seen that photo posted on Facebook before, but I have no idea what the source of it is. Perhaps shot for a magazine / newspaper article?

I'll guess that the other two girls are models, although I had briefly wondered if the blonde one was Rosemary Donnelly, but I don't think she is. Probably a promo shoot for either the series itself or the fashions.

I'm sure they got quite a few stares from people wondering what was going on.
Great shot, thanks for sharing it. |

Regarding this photo, I found 4 others on MirrorPix, all appearing to be taken on the same day. Doing some more research, these were taken in Birmingham on 15 September 1970, for a photo to appear in the 16 September issue of The Birmingham Post. UFO premiered in parts of the UK on this date. Here is what appeared in the newspaper (which I also found online)

And here is another one from that series of photos. Hard to find unwatermarked, high-resolution versions of the others:

Interesting to read that the clothes would soon be on sale in shops. I don't think that ever happened, and if it did they didn't sell many.

Hello
This is a very late reply as I just found your site! I was born and raised in Birmingham and spent my first 56 years there. Last year my US wife and I relocated to the Mid West USA to be closer to her family. Anyway! The first photo shows the ladies walking away from what was the TSB Bank Broad Street ( now renamed The Exchange)toward what was The registrar office. The TSB closed many years ago and for about 20 years was owned by Film Birmingham who hired it out as a location. The BBC used it for Hustle and Survivors (the remake). I hired it myself at £400 for a long weekend when I made an amateur film there in 2012 and then again in 2013. You cant get the exact angle on Google Earth but its here. The levelled ground shown is where the registrar office was - and the statues, later gilded, stood outside for decades. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Broad+St,+Birmingham,+UK/@52.4786862,-1.9083612,159m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x4870bcf680620771:0xb1e513880e95969b!8m2!3d52.4763727!4d-1.9127339!16zL20vMDE4eWcy?entry=ttu ![]() The shot was probably by the bushes in the bottom right of this photo. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ell-r-brown/4200083453 |

The shots of them standing on a low wall are adjacent to the Hall of Memory - which changed a lot from 2000 onward but you can see the Rep theatre in this recent shot which was being built when they were there. https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4793451,-1.9072954,3a,75y,271.82h,81.6t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sL-wKm2UVeUiK8sy4gbyydQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu I colourised this one and added a new sky ![]() |
