... on a rather trivial note, but for those who feel they ought to
know these things, a US powerpop band called The Wondermints played
at The Borderline in London last night (Monday 13th November 2000)
and as part of their (excellent) set played a staggeringly faithful
rendition of the theme music to "UFO," dedicating it to "Nick Drake's
sister, Gabrielle" (though I'm sure she wasn't in the audience!)
although it's not on any of their records. The Wondermints are
currently best-known for being Beach Boy Brian Wilson's touring band
on his current "Pet Sounds" tour of the USA...
