Presumably, we're talking about looking at the DVD scenes in question frame-by-frame.

I think someone mentioned the similarity just a few months ago. perhaps the person to posted that would comment again here?

What would you like to know?

X-COM is (as the game describes) a global unit designed specifically to
intercept incoming UFOs and deal with the ever increasing alien threat.

The first game takes place on land the sequel is underwater.

The base in the first game is all underground with one basic access
point for personnel and another for aircrafts (there are no ground
vehicles).

The player manages X-COM on the bureaucrat level (recruitment,
research, base building, etc) and the actual alien threat on a ground
level on turn-by-turn basis with a squad up to 15.

The main fighter craft used at the beginning of X-COM is called an
Interceptor, but it resembles a fighter plane.

How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth."

And the name of X-Com outside of the United States was called, "UFO: Enemy
Unknown"

And the Third X-Com takes place in a city.
