There was a an attempt at a UFO remake in 2009 ?

Shado-cabinet
Hi Guys

Just came across a webpage mentioning that a remake of the UFO was going to be developed by a director
Matthew Gratzner in 2009. Apparently they were going to do a trilogy of films. But unfortunately it appears to be another one of those projects that didn't get off the ground :(

Does anyone know what went wrong with this project?

Seems like that UFO movie just sort of died, without notice.  Presumably a lack of funding.

Hi Marc

Its such a pity that the project never came through as the casting looked very interesting (I liked who they were thinking of casting for Virginia Lake :)

Its a pity that Gerry Anderson didn't produce a CGI-animated version of UFO instead of the Captain Scarlet series that he produce in the mid-noughties. It would have been great to see a continuation of UFO with the voice talents of Ed Bishop, Michael Billington, Gabriella Drake et al in this animated format. I think it would have went down well as UFO is a great concept, and within the budget-friendly constraints of an CGI-animated series (as opposed to a live-action series) you could have great visual spectacles (with waves of lunar interceptors battling fleets of UFOs etc).  Just take a look at the great epic battles that appeared in the excellent Star Wars: Clone Wars serials (imagine how a UFO series would look like with that kind of budget?)
