Not me. I've been off to Area 51 to hire a UFO and get myself fitted for a new
red spacesuit.

Hi Anny!

Well, I am here, the little Christian :-) but sadly I have to stay
in the lurk-mode for a while :-( because private and official work
overcomes me. Therefore I couldn't join the episode discussions for a
while (missed ORDEAL and now THE RESPONISBILITY SEAT) since I
currently find not the time to even WATCH the episodes! Bad days at
Christians'... 8-((

Maybe I am allowed to review them afterwards? Marc? {{:-]
BTW, many thanks for the transcriptions! They are great!

Well, OK, I will vanish again in my lurking-place....

Sorry to hear that! I've been too busy as well, as my
wife is beginning the process of opening up a yoga studio,
and of course this means I'm doing lots to help...

Why yes... of course! Since you've been a major
reviewer of these episodes, perhaps we should take a break
and wait for you to catch up?

You're welcome! Glad you like them!

A Gentle Reminder

Suzanne Sutherland
In reply to this post by Anny Théberge
Hello Folks!!

This is a reminder for all of those people who wish to participate in
sending Ed Bishop a communal birthday greeting for the 11th of June. He
will be 68 years old this year!

I've not had much of a response so far. Yes, I know it is early days
yet but time is marching on. Please send your messages to me off list.
I will devise a snazzy booklet with all our greetings and send it to his
agent in time for his birthday.

My e-mail addy is [hidden email] and I need your messages
in by 5th June, please.

Also, all of those who wish to send a message of get well to Tony's UFO-
loving partner, Alison, I need your messages in by May 30th.

Looking forward to hearing from more of you,

Hmm...68 in the summer of 2001 means Ed Bishop was only 36 when he began
filming UFO in the summer of 1969. Which would mean that I am now the same
age as both Commander Straker and Captain Kirk. If this is actually the
case, then being an adult the age of my childhood idols has proved a major
letdown. Suzanne, are you positive that Ed is only 68?

May seems to be a tough month for one or the other of us :-)
Good luck for you and your wife, Marc!

Thanks, Marc, for your obligingness!
For me it will do to post my statements subsequently but if the other
list members can live with it, it would be a welcome break for me. Or
for us? :-) "Major reviewer"? Maybe I should print this on my calling
cards too? :-)) (Only joking. I've got no calling cards.)

Nevertheless, if I have any informations (news about mags, music
aso.) for the group, I will try to submit them here, of course.

Ed Bishop was born 11 June, 1932. Trust me, I'm a doctor;-)

Would you like to include a greeting, Jeff?

Intro

Joyce Reynolds-Ward
Now that our wonderful Moderator person
has me subbed to the correct addy (thank you
very much!), here's my intro....

I was a die-hard UFO fan when it showed here
in the US back in the early 70s. Loved the show,
wasn't so fond of Space 1999, bought the books...
sold the books, recently got them again.

I'm a sf addict, wannagetpublished writer, jeweler,
horsewoman and X-Phile (at least through the end
of Season 8...We Shall See about Season 9). Along
those lines, t'would have been interesting should Mulder
and Scully ever stumbled across a certain British movie
studio....

I hope to find some US playable tapes of UFO at some
point to introduce my 14 year old son to the show...
I think he'd love it because he likes X-Files, the Prisoner,
etc, etc....

Glad to be here!

Hi Joyce-
Email Robert Yancey at [hidden email]
He sells complete sets of UFO dubbed direct from the Japanese laser discs.
They are flawless.

Sorry to sound a sour note, but I really don't think
personally that this sort of thing should be encouraged by
being advertised on a mailing list. It is, after all, theft.

Sorry, meant to send it to her personally. Theft or not, if the entire series
were available commercially I would be happy to purchase them from Carlton or
A&E. Until then, I will get them where I can and help my fellow list members
find the best copies available for the lowest price. If that offends you, I
apologize.

It doesn't really, in itself. I just personally think it's
better not to advertise bootleg copies on the list. Other
listers may well have a different POV, just expressing my own.

Cheers

Ooh! We wrote a story about that, didn't we? Mulder got the amnesia
drug, as I recall ....

SF and fantasy. Five short stories circulating on
the market, four more close to being ready to send
out, a fifth still in rough draft composition mode.

Two novels in rough planning.

I do have some published nonfiction but that's mostly
political stuff, pre-Clinton era.

Not a fanfic writer (okay, there's some X-Files fanfic
floating around out there but only a few stories meant
to unblock me for regular fiction).

Ah, yes, methinks I remember reading that one!

I would have liked to see some Requiem/mytharc crossovers
with UFO...my money's on Straker et al kicking butt on
the Consortium....but that would have necessistated wiping
out the Mulder resurrection arc in Season 8 (hope I'm not
spoiling folks here....just had that sudden thought that not everyone
has seen the whole series yet....in any case, had SHADO
existed in that world things Would Not Have Been The
Same.

Oh yeah, I'm also a Twin Peaks fan. And a crossover
with that one is a natural....although hmmm, Twin Peaks
and UFO, Dale Cooper and Straker....oooh, a little tooo weird.

I thought there was an *approved* video, something
like "Invasion UFO" or some such thing. Or is it
nonapproved?

Somehow, somewhere, I thought someone at an sf con told
me that UFO vids were available in Europe but not in the US.

Oh. Bummer. Anny can always use a dose of fan-fic - the Petite Frenchie
is addicted, you see. Sad case, really <shaking head> I haven't been
able tow rite much lately and Anny has been pushing poor Amelia so very
hard - Amelia may be forced to kill the Frenchie. Really sad case,
truely ....
;-)

I wrote a novel once! It really sucked. Still, I had a good idea and if
I were to rewrite it, I bet I could get it published! I'm just not great
when it comes to rewriting. I didn't have a computer (or word processor)
then either, so it's all only on paper and the whole thing would have to
be typed in - ARGH! Nightmare time! I write so that I can be the first
to find out what happens next. Once I know what happens, I kind of lose
interest. <shrug>

Well, IF there were another organization on Earth working WITH the
aliens, SHADO would have a tougher time of it ....

Cooper/Straker ..........
<ponder>
Never watched Twin Peaks, but Kyle MacLaughlin (I know that is spelled
horribly wrong!) .....
<ponder some more>
Cooper/Straker ....................

Ummmmm, I better not say any more - t'would start a list war I have no
desire to live through again, but suffice it to say, you may have
inspired a story - eventually. (I have about 6 stories already started
...)

Invasion UFO is a "movie" they made by splicing together bits and pieces
from several episodes. It's not really very good.

There ARE some commercial videos available in the states and if you can
play PAL vids, then you could get the UK tapes.
