Greetings all and Happy Holidays -
It's been quite sometime since I last posted here and thought I would chime in with something I just discovered: The Protectors is tripe. I really liked Robert Vaughn in Man from U.N.C.L.E. and, of course, Gerry Anderson is a beloved creator of many a classic series including our favored one. However, combine these two in The Protectors, and you've got one hideous television show. What could possibly have gone so wrong? Although I have only watched one complete episode, I have resigned myself to continue viewing hoping to catch a glimpse of some classic aircraft, or a shot of a recycled actor in true Anderson fashion; Anthony Chinn driving a bright red Rolls Royce and kicking some a$$. Well, worth the suffering. Definitely not 007. More like .035. Cheers, Happy Christmakkuh, and a Safe New Year, -bob
"Imagine a dying planet in some distant corner of the universe. Its natural resources exhausted. Its inhabitants sterile. Doomed to extinction. A situation we may one day find ourselves in, gentlemen. So they discover earth. Abundant, fertile. Able to satisfy their needs. They look upon us not with animosity, but callousness. As we look upon our animals that we depend on for food. Yes, it appears they are driven by circumstance across a billion miles of space, driven on by the greatest force in the universe - survival."

Bob,
Am I glad that you posted this! I've never seen the show. But being a fan of British TV in general, and a Gerry Anderson fan in particular, I had planned on getting both seasons of The Protectors on dvd from ebay, as they are fairly inexpensive. With Robert Vaughn having been so ultra-cool as Napoleon Solo, I figured The Protectors would be a pretty safe bet. What a shame. Did you buy the DVDs? Wanna sell 'em really cheap (LOL)? As long as we're on the subject of other GA productions, I bought the boxed set of Terrahawks sight unseen for about $15US shipped on ebay. I knew it was a kids puppet show. And as kids shows go, I was hoping it would be as good as Thunderbirds. All I can say is yecch. I'll trade ya Terrahawks for the Protectors... : ) Jeff Jeff TheLynx <[hidden email]> wrote: Greetings all and Happy Holidays - It's been quite sometime since I last posted here and thought I would chime in with something I just discovered: The Protectors is tripe.
