People say that any UFO 2 made now will not be UFO as we know it, but will
have Straker and/or Foster where Henderson was, and many new faces and names
in the active roles. If so, it must be, since it is now 30 years later and the
actors and therefore the characters will have to be 30 years older. Either
that, or many of the UFO series characters will have to be found new younger
actors. When Star Trek continued after a gap as The New Generation (TNG), they
realized that there could be no return to the old classical scenario of Kirk
and Spock and Scotty etc young and active with the same well known faces, but
they had to start afresh with a new generation of crewmen. Perhaps UFO 2 will
have to be so. The new faces and names will soon fit into their roles, like
the old faces and names did. And now Picard and crew are as familiar and
traditional as Kirk and crew used to be.
26 UFO episodes is enough to use up the existing scenario enough for people to
begin to want a somewhat different scenario next time. I have come across
various changes of basic scenario in UFO fan fiction or suggested in messages:-
(1) SHADO gets much further travelling spacecraft and can go further in the
SOlar System.
(2) SHADO copies alien FTL (= faster than light) travel technmology, and
perhaps can take the war all the way to the alien homeworld.
(3) Aliens have landed and are here in secret, like in various unrelated
"secret gradual alien takeover" scenarios.
(4) Other species of alien, e.g. the Greys.
(5) I wrote a UFO story ("How it Ended", see

keep thenselves secret, and do not take over, but become merely a part of the
Earth scene. Their reason for coming is the same as before, but they have
another way of getting it.
