UFO Book

docmed03
I know that there has been a lot of debate about obtaining the book
from sources such as Amazon and Fanderson, but has anyone actually
gotten this book by actually walking into a place such as WH Smith,
Waterstones or Forbidden Planet and buying it in person, so to
speak?

I broached this subject on the Fanderson List last week. I had said
that I could find the book nowhere in a whole heap of big high
street shops in Bristol,Cardiff,Newport etc. However Katie Bleathman
very kindly pointed out that there were copies available in Bristol
that week (but I sure didn't see any...and everyone I asked said
they hadn't seen the book at all!)

Maybe the situation has improved now (especially in 'specialist' sci
fi shops such as Forbidden Planet), but from what I have seen,
availability in shops remains generally poor (at least in S Wales).
Of course I don't go constantly looking!

The book (which I got from Fanderson Sales)is excellent in my
opinion.I was slightly disappointed at the quality of the inside
photos - but only slightly! I thought the cover was extremely well
done, and the actual content is great - plenty to read and very
comprehensive. I only hope Chris Bentley follows it up with a
SPACE:1999 book!

It has been in Forbidden Planet, Bristol for the past two weeks.

I looked at it there on the Thursday after it's publication date.

Simon:

A similar type book will be published by Powys...authored by Martin Willey, to
the best of my current knowledge.

Yes I am aware of this Anthony but I suspect that there is room for
books from Chris Bentley *and* Martin Willey on Space:1999,since I
suspect each would take a slightly different approach.

If only it would get up to the Middlesbrough branch, or even the Newcastle branch, of Forbidden Planet!

Thank you for your info.

If this book is "The Complete Book of UFO", please what is its
complete title and author and ISBN number etc? I have just phoned
Blackwalls (a big bookshop near Manchester University )(UK) and they
computer searched for "The Complete Book of UFO" and they found a
book with that title, but it was about 50 years of alleged contacts
with real aliens, not about the Gerry Anderson UFO series.
