UFO DVD region-free check!

Hi all,

I did a region check on my Carlton UFO DVD's this morning, this time
using my Apex instead of my Sony DVD player. I set my Apex to Region
4, then put in a Carlton Space:1999 DVD. The Apex responded with the
message "Wrong Region" and refused to play the disc. Then I put in a
Carlton UFO DVD. The Apex played this just fine! So my UFO DVD's
are also region-free. The error I got on the Sony must be a problem
with the DVD player (probably not PAL compatible...)

I read what you said about your DVD check. Does that
mena that UFOs DVD (Carlton production) is region free
and therefore would play on a region 4 DVD player ???
I live in AUstralia (Region 4).

Yes, the UFO DVD's are indeed region-free. I read
a few messages on the Usenet newsgroup "aus.dvd"
(Australian DVD group), and they've also backed
this up, with some members reporting that they
can play them fine with standard Region 4 players,
and another confirming that they work in all regions.
